Presentations

Students will do some independent study on an embedded systems topic, write a summary paper and give a 20 minute tutorial to the rest of the class. This presentation is intended to help the students gain some depth of understanding in an embedded systems topic that interests them.

Presentation Requirements

Choose an aspect of your final project and prepare a tutorial for the class. This is not intended to be a "this is my project" summary, but an educational tutorial on one aspect or your project. For example, if your project is to build some sort of network enabled appliance, then perhaps you could give a tutorial on the specific network hardware and software you are using. You are expected to complete some research on the topic so you can give a tutorial that is complete and accurate. You should read articles and web tutorials to gain some depth of knowledge on the topic, tools or techniques involved. Write a summary paper and prepare a 20 minute class tutorial.

Here are the specific requirements:

  • ALL topics must be approved in advance.
  • Topic can be related to your final project.
  • No duplicate topics (I will accept the first complete proposal).
  • Written topic proposal (email is fine).
  • Written summary paper, minimum of 8 pages.
  • Presentation to class (PowerPoint or OpenOffice), 20 minutes minimum. See schedule below (I will fill in student name and topic once I approve the proposals, starting with the latest date and working to the most recent (students who select/propose a topic early get the most time to work).
  • Email me a ZIP file with all of your source code, presentation, summary paper, and any additional files (images, schematic, etc).
